Samsung detailed the August Security Maintenance Release last week. It’s now rolling out firmware updates to distribute the latest security patch. We reported yesterday that Samsung had released the August security patch for the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ in Germany, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.
It was only a matter of time before Samsung rolled out said update in other markets across the globe. It has now released the August security patch for the Galaxy S8+ in India. It goes without saying that the update will also land on the Galaxy S8 in the country soon.
Firmware version G955FXXU1AQH3 is now being rolled out for the Galaxy S8+ in India. Weighing in at just over 600MB, the update includes the August security patch, improved PC connection stability and improved auto brightness control.
The August Security Maintenance Release brings patches for 28 vulnerabilities in the Android operating system as well as 12 in Samsung’s own software. There’s not much in the way of new features since this is a routine firmware update that only brings the security patch and makes some minor tweaks.
Samsung has started rolling out the August security patch for the Galaxy S8+ in India today. Users will soon get an over-the-air update notification if they haven’t already.
Update: The Galaxy S8 is also receiving this update in India. The firmware file weighs the same.
Thanks, Ravi!
