Samsung is already one of the biggest vendors of home appliances in the world. It’s going to leverage that position and establish itself as a serious player in the smart home market. Samsung has been focusing on the Internet of Things quite a lot over the past few years. It’s now sharing its vision for the smart home of the future.
From September 8 to October 23, Samsung will showcase its vision for the smart home at the Gwangju Design Biennale. It’s a leading international exhibition of contemporary art. The exhibition features exhibitors from more than 30 countries this year.
Samsung’s exhibit will provide visitors the chance to experience the future of the smart home. It showcases how home appliances are all connected to each other through the latest advancements in IoT. Samsung’s Family Hub refrigerator plays a central role in the smart home with the Samsung Connect app being at the heart of the smart home vision.
Samsung Connect was first demonstrated at IFA 2017. It’s an integrated app system that controls different home appliances. Since it’s based in the cloud, it’s compatible with any device or operating system. Users can rely on this app to control and check on the status of nearly all connected devices in their home. The app will eventually get voice support as well.
The company says that it’s planning to focus on expanding services by collaborating with other smart home companies. It’s also going to increase the range of devices compatible with the SmartThings ecosystem.
