The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ are being updated with the November security patch over in Canada, with the update rolling out for all major carriers. It’s a bit late, with December already underway, but Canada is now ahead of a lot of countries when it comes to the security of the S8 and S8+. Samsung just hasn’t been quick enough with security updates for its 2017 flagships recently, but availability of the November update has been expanding with every new day.
The November 2017 security patch brings fixes for 61 Android vulnerabilities and six Samsung vulnerabilities. It also patches the KRACK Wi-Fi exploit, which is pretty much the most important part of the update. That’s all you can expect from the latest update, and as for Android 8.0 Oreo, it certainly looks like it will be a couple of months before Samsung’s officially rolling that out.
How do I get the update?
To grab the new update, tap the Download updates manually option in the Software update section of the phone’s settings. We also have the firmware available for download from our database (Galaxy S8 | Galaxy S8+), which you can use for upgrading if the update isn’t available for your device over the air yet.
