Samsung unveiled its new Galaxy A series handsets two weeks ago. They’re not called the Galaxy A5 (2018) and the Galaxy A7 (2018) as initially expected. Samsung is calling the new handsets Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018). The new premium mid-range handsets from Samsung offer robust specifications at an affordable price point.
The company has released a new short film today in which it celebrates diversity. It’s also a subtle celebration, if you may, of the new handset’s camera.
Of diversity and camera features
One of the very first shots of this short film highlights the handsets’ dual front camera. The Galaxy A8 (2018) and Galaxy A8+ (2018) feature a 16-megapixel primary front camera with f/1.9 aperture coupled with an 8-megapixel secondary f/1.9 camera.
Users can switch between the two separate cameras to take regular photos or close-ups with background blue. The new handsets also have the Live Focus feature which lets users adjust the blur effect before and after the picture has been taken.
The main character in this digital film asks random people if she can take their photo. When they ask why, she says she’s taking pictures of things that she finds beautiful. This is where the diversity element kicks in all the while she is using a Galaxy A8 (2018) to take the photos, come rain or shine.
This is a bit different from the smartphone commercials that we normally see but it does get the job done, it highlights the camera functionality very well. Samsung will start selling the Galaxy A8 and Galaxy A8+ (2018) in many markets across the globe later this month.
