Samsung has a couple of new mid-range handsets in the pipeline and the Galaxy J4 is one of them. It was first reported three months ago that the Galaxy J4 is a new budget smartphone that’s in development over at Samsung. This device will be released alongside the Galaxy J6 in the near future and it appears that the launch may not be that far off as the first Galaxy J4 firmware is available for download already.
The Galaxy J4 received its Bluetooth certification two weeks ago which was yet another major indication that the handset will soon be released. Moreover, the official support page for the Galaxy J6 surfaced online last week. It appears that we’re headed to an official launch of both these Galaxy J series handsets in the coming weeks.
First Galaxy J4 firmware
Samsung is yet to confirm anything about the Galaxy J4 but benchmark listings of the handset reveal that it’s going to be powered by a quad-core Exynos 7570 processor with 2GB of RAM. It’s going to ship with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box and will have support for Bluetooth 4.2. The resolution is not known at this point in time but the screen size might be 5.5-inch.
The first Galaxy J4 firmware that’s available for download right now confirms that this device will indeed ship with Android 8.0 Oreo out of the box. It also comes with the April 2018 security patch. Firmware version J400FXXU1ARDM is now available for download from our firmware section. The firmware file for the SM-J400F also confirms that Pakistan will be one of the markets where Samsung releases the new Galaxy J4.
Samsung is yet to confirm when it’s going to officially launch the Galaxy J4 and the Galaxy J6. Given all of the circumstantial evidence that has surfaced over the past few weeks, it’s only a matter of time now before these handsets are made official. No word as yet on the pricing and availability details.
