It has been three weeks since we first reported that the Galaxy A3 (2017) was finally receiving the Oreo update. Samsung released the Galaxy A3 (2017) Oreo update in Russia first and the rollout was initially limited to the country but the update is now making its way to more countries.
Galaxy A3 (2017) owners in select European countries will now be able to install Android 8.0 Oreo on their devices. It’s only a matter of time now before Samsung expands the availability of this update even further.
Galaxy A3 (2017) Oreo update
It wasn’t surprising when Samsung first released the Oreo update for Galaxy A3 (2017) in Russia given that it was also the first market to get the Android 7.0 Nougat update for the 2016 A series handsets.
Samsung has now started rolling out firmware version A320FLXXU2CRD4 for the Galaxy A3 (2017) model number SM-A320FL in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. We have the firmware files available for download via our firmware section, just click on the relevant country name to access them. The firmware isn’t being rolled out over-the-air in these markets just yet so a manual install via PC is required at this point in time.
The firmware includes the April 2018 security patch. It bumps up the handset to Android Oreo and brings all of the features that are part and parcel of the release. We already have detailed coverage on all of the new features included in Android 8.0 Oreo and Samsung has put up a useful infographic which explains the changes that it has made with Samsung Experience 9.0.
Samsung will gradually release the Android 8.0 Oreo update for the Galaxy A3 (2017) in more markets across the globe in the weeks to come so owners in other markets still have to wait for quite some time before they can get a taste of Oreo on their handsets.
