Samsung has been striving hard to turn its late-to-the-market virtual assistant, Bixby, into a differentiating factor for its products. It has been collaborating with other companies to make its assistant capable, smart, and more useful. The latest in the line of these efforts is the coming together of Adobe and Samsung to make mobile scanning easier.
Adobe, in a press release, has announced the ‘Adobe Scan for Bixby Vision’ feature, which will debut on the Galaxy Note 9. This collaboration will make it easier to access Adobe’s powerful mobile PDF scanning tool, Adobe Scan, from Bixby Vision. When a user aims the Galaxy Note 9 camera at a paper document, Bixby Vision will automatically suggest scanning it using Adobe Scan.
It is difficult to understand the level of integration without seeing the feature in action, but from the press release, it appears Bixby Vision will merely push the task to the Adobe Scan app and all the scanning takes place there. Users can also apparently access and edit saved scans from Bixby Vision itself.
Will come to the Galaxy S8, S9, and Note 8 as well
It seems Adobe Scan app will come preloaded on the Galaxy Note 9 to enable this integration. The Adobe Scan for Bixby Vision feature will also come to the Galaxy S8/S8+, Galaxy Note 8, and Galaxy S9/S9+ at a later date. Whether this means Samsung will push the Adobe Scan app through a future software update or will just ask users to download the app when in Bixby Vision is not yet known.
“Enabling Bixby Vison to work seamlessly with a powerful app like Adobe Scan gives our customers the ability to get more done with the latest Samsung flagship smartphone, the Galaxy Note9, than ever before,” said Elle Kim, vice president, Global Service Partnership, Mobile Communications Business, Samsung Electronics.
