Verizon Galaxy S9 updated with October 2018 security patch

Samsung has been pretty quick with upgrading its flagships to the latest security patches the last couple of months. It’s usually the budget and mid-range Galaxies that get a new security patch first, but Samsung has defied that norm recently and is continuing to do so this month as well. Case in point: The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S9 have been updated with the October 2018 security patch in a few countries already. And US carrier Verizon is now pushing the latest security patch to its variants of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+.

Verizon Galaxy S9 update released

The new Verizon Galaxy S9 update includes the October 2018 security patch and comes with firmware version G960USQS3ARIB and G965USQS3ARIB for the S9 and S9+ respectively. It’s unclear if the update brings other changes as well. The Galaxy S9 October update brought improvements for the front camera on the unlocked models, but it remains to be seen if the US carrier variants will be getting those improvements.

Even if they don’t, the latest security patch is a solid reason for an update by itself. You can check if one is available on your Galaxy S9 by going into the Settings » Software update menu on the device. You can also update your device by downloading the firmware from our firmware section.
