Last week, Samsung filed trademark applications in several countries for a possible new Galaxy Rize phone lineup. So, what are the Rize10, Rize20 and Rize30?
Possible Galaxy Rize series incoming
In, amongst other jurisdictions, the UK, Samsung filed paperwork for trademarks Rize10 (PDF), Rize20 (PDF) and Rize30 (PDF). The documents leave little doubt as to what the trademarks belong to: smartphones. That, of course, does not tell us any real details. But we can not ignore the similarities to the naming schemes Samsung is applying to two other series in 2019.
Samsung is known to be working on its new A series, with device names like Galaxy A30 and Galaxy A50. Also, the new M series devices will carry a comparable naming scheme, with phones like Galaxy M10 and Galaxy M20.
Judging by the numbers, it seems the Rize10, Rize20 and Rize30 are likely to be modestly spec’d devices. Perhaps later we will see a Rize50 or Rize70 too, but for now, the three filings are all we have to go on.
Of course, we have to keep an open mind to the possibility that these names are indeed smartphone-related but not device names. The lack of Galaxy in the branding could mean we are seeing the names of accessoires, for example. Let’s hope some more details will surface in the course of the next weeks. We’ll make sure to keep our own eyes and ears open as well.
