Galaxy S9 Pie update for Israel hints at wider rollout, brings January patch

Samsung has just started rolling out the Android Pie update for the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ in Israel. If you’re wondering why we’re writing separately about this instead of just updating our list of countries where the update is available, it’s because the Israel update carries a newer software version than the one released for other markets and even includes the January 2019 security patch, which Samsung detailed earlier today.

Newer build suggests wider rollout could start soon

The new software version is XXU2CRLN, while the first official release came with XXU2CRLI. It’s an indication that Samsung could soon start the worldwide rollout, as the company has also been publishing details on Android Pie and One UI on its official website in recent days. Of course, nothing can be said for certain until the rollout actually begins in the next day or two.

The Galaxy S9 update is only rolling out over the air at the moment, but Galaxy S9+ owners can also update via Samsung Smart Switch on their PC or by using the firmware from our database. If you own a Galaxy S9 or S9+ in Israel, or even a Galaxy Note 9, do let us know if the update has started rolling out for you. And don’t forget to check out all the new features in Android Pie once you have updated.
