Samsung’s betting big on the new Galaxy M series, with the Galaxy M20 the company’s most value-for-money budget smartphone ever. The M20 has received generally positive critical reception, including here at SamMobile; we found it to be a masterstroke in terms of how well it’s priced and what it offers for that price. And Samsung seems to be taking software updates for the device very seriously, as a second Galaxy M20 software update is now rolling out in India a day before it’s set to go on sale.
Like the first software update, the second one doesn’t tell us what’s new or different. It’s got a generic changelog and even the security patch remains unchanged, but we’re hoping it has some under-the-hood improvements, especially for performance. The Galaxy M20 can run popular games like PUBG without breaking a sweat (at the default graphics settings, at least), but general navigation through the interface can produce some stutters and lag that you don’t expect from the Exynos 7904 chip powering the device (remember, this is a chip similar to the Exynos 7885, with just a lower clock speed for its two high-performance processor cores).
The new update is a 68 MB download and comes with software version M205FDDU1ASAF. If you buy the Galaxy M20, both software updates should be available over the air right out of the box.
