Samsung has been revamping its Galaxy A series lineup for 2019 with more models, features, and aggressive pricing. The company has already released the Galaxy A10, A30, and A50 under the new strategy. There is evidence to show it is planning to release more A series devices, including a Galaxy A90, in the coming months.
The Galaxy A90 is supposed to be the most premium of these new devices, as indicated by its model number. A previous report said that it might be exclusive for China, but that doesn’t seem to the case going by the new information available today. Galaxy Club has found that Samsung is also developing a European variant of the A90 under the model number SM-A905F. While this is not enough to guess the exact markets where it will launch, at least it confirms some European markets are on A90’s radar.
A brand-new camera system?
Not much has been leaked about the Galaxy A90 so far, other than some vague but exciting gossip about the camera system onboard. It is rumored to come with a 48-megapixel “lifting rotary camera solution” which supposedly allows a single camera system to be used both as a selfie and rear camera through some form of sliding and rotating mechanism.
A brand-new camera system on a midranger doesn’t sound outlandish since Samsung announced a change in strategy for midrange smartphones last year. The company decided to pack its midrange smartphones with innovative features even before they make their debut on its flagships. The triple-camera system on the A7 (2018) and the quad-camera setup on the A9 (2018) were a result of this new strategy.
