Galaxy A70 May update improves camera, fingerprint recognition

Samsung has released the first software update for the Galaxy A70 in India, three weeks after the device went on sale in the country. The update brings the May 2019 security patch and improves camera picture quality and fingerprint recognition. It also adds the ability to apply a beauty filter in real time when recording videos with the rear-facing camera.

The changelog also mentions that the update brings accidental touch protection. That feature has been present on our Galaxy A70 review unit since day one, so we’re not sure why Samsung is saying it has only been added now. For those wondering, accidental touch protection is the feature that prevents touches from being registered on the screen when the phone is in your pocket or a bag and comes standard on Samsung’s flagship and mid-range smartphones.

The Galaxy A70 update clocks in at 376 MB and is rolling out over the air in India. You can grab the update by opening the Settings app on the phone, select Software update, then tap the Download and install option. It’s unclear if a similar update is rolling out in other markets where the Galaxy A70 is available for purchase, and if it is available for you in a country other than India, do let us know by leaving a comment down below.
