Galaxy S8+ gets the May 2019 security patch

The May 2019 security patch is gradually being rolled out to more devices. It started off with the Galaxy Note 8 and the Galaxy A9 (2018) earlier this month. Samsung has since been rolling out the firmware update to more devices across the globe.

Samsung has now released the May 2019 security patch for the Galaxy S8+. Germany is the first market where the firmware update has been released so far. It’s only a matter of time before the update makes its way to more markets across the globe.

Samsung is rolling out firmware version G955FXXS4DSE1 for the Galaxy S8+ in Germany. This update is being sent out over-the-air. You can also download it from our firmware section. Despite the fact that it weighs 420MB, the update doesn’t bring much in the way of new features. All that users really get from it is the latest security maintenance release.

Fixes for dozens of Android OS security vulnerabilities are included in this latest firmware update. It also patches 21 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items which are bugs that were discovered in Samsung’s own software.

Those who are waiting for the update to arrive over-the-air should expect to receive a notification soon. They can also try pulling it manually from the Software update menu in the Settings app. Just tap on Download and install to start the process. Samsung should roll out the May 2019 security patch for the Galaxy S8 as well in the coming days.
