Samsung is releasing a new software update, pushing the June 2019 Android security patch, to the Galaxy A10 and Galaxy A2 Core. The rollout is limited to a couple of regions, but it should expand to more countries – and devices – throughout June. For now, the update is launching in India for the Galaxy A10, and in Iraq for the Galaxy A2 Core.
As detailed by Samsung a couple of weeks ago, the June 2019 security patch addresses a variety of high-risk vulnerabilities in the Android OS, alongside one moderate-risk vulnerability. The update patches 11 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) in addition to the issues related to Google’s own software.
There’s also a possibility that this new update sees the return of Telegram to the Galaxy A10. An issue with the file system caused Telegram to become unusable for the Galaxy Ax0 series in May. Compatibility was restored, at least for the Galaxy A30, when it received the June 2019 security patch earlier this month. Several other devices have received the latest security patch over the past couple of weeks. The Samsung Galaxy S9+ made the list, along with the Galaxy Tab S5e and Galaxy Tab Active 2.
Samsung Galaxy A10 and Galaxy A2 Core owners in India and Iraq, respectively, should receive an update notification prior to being able to download the latest software package over-the-air. They can try and download it manually using the Download and install option in the Software update menu of the Settings app. As always, you can also grab the update from our database if you wish to circumvent the OTA process.
