Galaxy A9 (2018) and the Galaxy J7 Pro get the July security update

Samsung is expanding the rollout of the latest monthly security update to more devices. The Galaxy A9 (2018) and the Galaxy J7 Pro are the latest devices to receive the July 2019 security patch. This month’s security patch contains fixes for over a dozen vulnerabilities found in Android OS as well as Samsung’s own software. You can check this detailed report to see what has been fixed.

More devices get the July security patch

Samsung has just began rolling out a new update to the Galaxy A9 (2018) in Poland, Italy, and a few other markets. The update bumps the software version to A920FXXU2BSFB, although it may vary from region to region. In addition to the latest security patch, the update also improves camera stability and introduces the Digital Wellbeing feature to the device.

The Galaxy J7 Pro is also getting the latest security update in a number of countries. The new software version is J730GDXU6CSF5, but as said earlier, it may vary from region to region. We don’t have a changelog as yet, so we are not sure if this update adds any new features or simply introduces the July security patch. The J7 Pro got the Android Pie update last month.

To grab the new update over the air on your A9 (2018) or J7 Pro, open the phone’s Settings app, select Software update, then tap Download and install. Alternatively, you can download the full firmware from our database (Galaxy A9 | Galaxy J7 Pro) and upgrade using a Windows PC. Do note that OTA updates are released in stages and may not be available instantly on all devices.
