T-Mobile Galaxy Note 9 receives August 2019 security patch in the US

T-Mobile is rolling out a new update for the Galaxy Note 9 in the United States. It’s identified by software version N960USQS2CSGB and weighs a little under 200MB. The update doesn’t seem to bring any new features to the device, aside from the August 2019 security patch.

This is expected considering that features such as Night camera mode and QR scanner have already been introduced by T-Mobile to the Galaxy Note 9 about a week ago. At that time, the update weighed a heftier 882MB, but while it was packed with more features, the security patch level was lagging a bit behind. Now the device has been updated by the carrier to include the August 2019 security patch, which you can read more about in our detailed report. As usual, these software releases are designed to fix a number of vulnerabilities that affect both Samsung’s software and Android OS.

Same as before, T-Mobile is releasing the update over the air and US-based Galaxy Note 9 owners should receive an update notification before being able to download it. Should this not happen, users can try and trigger the update manually by opening the Settings app, accessing Software update, and then tapping Download and install.
