It has been a month since Samsung confirmed that it would finally release the Galaxy Fold in September. The company hasn’t confirmed a release date so far but it won’t be long now before it comes through with that information.
Samsung has opened up pre-registrations for the Galaxy Fold in the United States. That’s just an opportunity for customers to be notified when the handset goes on sale. Remember, pre-registrations aren’t the same as pre-orders.

Samsung had delayed the Galaxy Fold’s launch to make some changes in order to improve the device’s durability. There are new protection caps for the hinge, additional metal layers under the foldable display and other improvements to enhance durability. Samsung says that it has conducted rigorous testing of these changes to ensure that the handset doesn’t run into any problems when customers use it in the real world.
Folks in the United States who are interested in picking one up can head over to Samsung’s website right now and pre-register for the Galaxy Fold. AT&T will be offering it for $1,980, the very same price point that was communicated earlier this year for the April launch. T-Mobile was initially going to carry the device but it has now decided to no longer offer the Galaxy Fold to its customers.
It shouldn’t be long now before Samsung officially confirms when the Galaxy Fold is going to be released. A recent report out of South Korea claims that the company’s first foldable smartphone might finally hit the market on September 6.
