It’s a new month, and that means it’s time for a new Android security patch. The November 2019 security patch has now been detailed by both Google and Samsung. The November patch comes with fixes for nine critical vulnerabilities that affect the Android OS, along with fixes for 39 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures (SVE) items, which are vulnerabilities that only affect Samsung’s software. The November security update has already been released for some Galaxy devices and will be released for more devices in the coming weeks.
The November 2019 security patch for Galaxy devices includes a fix for a bug (CVE-2019-2215) in the Android OS that was discovered in September and found to have been exploited by cyber-attackers. The Galaxy S7, Galaxy S8, and Galaxy S9 were singled out in the list of Android devices affected by the bug, and while Google fixed the vulnerability in the October patch for Pixel devices, Samsung’s version of the October patch did not include such a fix. The Korean giant has changed that with the November security patch.
As noted earlier, the November security update has already been released for some Galaxy devices, such as the Galaxy S10, Galaxy Note 10, Galaxy Tab S4, and Galaxy A50. Samsung has been moving quickly with security updates in recent months, and we can assume the November update will also make its way to more Galaxy devices in the next few days. We’ll let you know whenever that happens, and you can also do the same if you have received the November security update on your phone or tablet by leaving a comment down below.
