Samsung starts building its $220 million R&D center in Vietnam

Samsung has started building a new research and development center in Vietnam. The Vietnamese government announced that the South Korean smartphone giant would be investing around $220 million to build the R&D center.

The R&D center is being constructed in Hanoi, and the construction is planned to be completed by the end of 2020. The company will employ anywhere between 2,200 and 3,000 people in its new research and development center. Samsung is the largest single foreign investor in the country, with its total investments crossing $17 billion right now.

Samsung already has multiple smartphone manufacturing plants in Vietnam. Last year, the country’s PM had requested the South Korean brand to build a chip manufacturing plant in Vietnam. The company also has a smartphone R&D center in Hanoi.

Samsung has various R&D centers across the globe, including the ones in Canada, China, Germany, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Philippines, Poland, Russia, Singapore, South Korea, Ukraine, the UK, and the US.
