Samsung is bringing the Galaxy Book S to more markets, and the UK is the latest addition to the list, after the USA and Germany. The company’s lightweight ARM-based laptop is now available in the UK for the price of £999, and customers can pick an Earthy Gold or Mercury Grey finish.
In the UK and other markets, the Galaxy Book S comes with 256GB of built-in memory, of which 196.8GB are available to the user. Should that not be enough, there is a microSD card slot capable of reading up to 1TB of external storage.
One of the biggest selling points of the Galaxy Book S is battery life. It can achieve up to 25 hours of video playback on a single charge, so even the most demanding users should have some juice left in the 42Wh pack at the end of the day.
Unlike the Galaxy Book Ion and Flex, both of which were developed in conjunction with Intel’s Project Athena program, the Galaxy Book S is an ARM-based laptop powered by the Snapdragon 8cx chipset. This is one of the reasons why battery life is stellar. The laptop runs Windows 10 Home OS, and the CPU is paired with 8GB of RAM, which should be enough if you manage your expectations. This is not a content creator’s pro-grade solution, but rather a lightweight media consumption powerhouse.
The laptop ships with a 13.3-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1920 by 1080, a 720p camera, a fingerprint sensor, a Nano-SIM card slot, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and VHT80 MIMO, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.
