As it’s already becoming tradition, Samsung started rolling out the June 2020 security patch to a number of Galaxy smartphones even before publishing the security patch details. After ensuring the highest security level for devices like the Galaxy S20, S10, Galaxy Note 8, and Galaxy Z Flip, Samsung is finally detailing some of the vulnerabilities addressed by the new June 2020 security patch.
Unsurprisingly, the latest security patch fixes issues affecting both Android OS and Samsung’s own proprietary software.
29 SVEs have been addressed, most of which remain unmentioned
Concerning Android OS running on Galaxy phones, the June 2020 security patch fixes only two critical vulnerabilities, but contains fixes for 23 vulnerabilities deemed a ‘high’ threat.
Meanwhile, Samsung reveals that the June 2020 security patch should address 29 Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures. The patch fixes one critical SVE, two high-severity SVEs, four SVEs of moderate severity, and two low-severity SVEs. They amount to nine SVE items, and the remaining twenty SVEs haven’t been detailed by Samsung on purpose for security reasons. However, some of these mystery SVEs will likely be disclosed at a later time.
While it’s difficult to tell which Galaxy smartphones will be getting the June 2020 security patch next, Samsung’s roll-out is in full force, so expect a notification to arrive on your phone at any moment, as long as it’s eligible for this release.
