Galaxy Note 20 lineup secures certificates ahead of Thailand release

The Galaxy Note 20 series has secured another certificate ahead of its August release, this time from Thailand’s National Broadcasting and Telecommunication Commission (NBTC). Specifically, the regulatory body has approved the LTE variants of both the Galaxy Note 20 and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra. As expected, the devices carry model numbers SM-N980F and SM-N985F, respectively, and as if more proof was needed that Samsung is changing the naming scheme of its S Pen flagships, the SM-N985F model number has been associated with the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra moniker once again.

Both phones have also been confirmed to boast dual-SIM capabilities, but this shouldn’t surprise anyone given Samsung’s history of dual-SIM devices. No other specs have been revealed by the NBTC.

There’s no rhyme or reason for the 5G models to be skipping Thailand

As yet, the NBTC doesn’t seem to have approved the 5G models of the Galaxy Note 20 flagship series, but that’s not to say the duo will be limited to LTE connectivity. Samsung had already released a couple of 5G phones in Thailand, including the Galaxy A71 5G as well as the Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G, so there’s a strong possibility that early 5G adopters in Thailand will have the opportunity to buy the 5G-enabled Galaxy Note 20 or Note 20 Ultra sooner or later.

Samsung will unveil the Galaxy Note 20 lineup on August 5 at Galaxy Unpacked, and the phones should be hitting the shelves in most countries by the end of the same month.
