2021 is only a couple of months away and you can be certain that several Galaxy smartphones scheduled for release next year are already in development. Our attention was recently drawn to the Galaxy S21 series on account of a few leaked renders and a rumor of an early launch, but Samsung is also working on a couple of models for the more budget conscious Galaxy M and Galaxy A lineups. They’re known as the Galaxy A02 and the Galaxy M02, and they were both spotted recently at Bluetooth SIG.
Of course, this is not the first time we hear about these upcoming devices. The Galaxy A02 was previously spotted in the Geekbench database, and both the Galaxy A02 and Galaxy M02 were later discovered on the Nemco AS website. Now the’ve been approved by Bluetooth SIG over the weekend but the certificate doesn’t reveal any specifications aside from Bluetooth 4.2 connectivity.
And it is ‘certificate‘ – singular – because both the Galaxy A02 and the Galaxy M02 were mentioned in the same Bluetooth SIG application that addresses model numbers SM-A025F and SM-M025F. Another unusual detail is that the A-series phone is referred to as the Galaxy A02s, even though history indicates that the SM-A025F model number should correspond to a non-s Galaxy A variant.
Either way, the odd listing suggests that the Galaxy A02 and Galaxy M02 might be identical, save for the branding, and that Samsung might be planning to release them in separate markets. This could also mean that the preliminary specifications pertaining to the Galaxy A02 should describe the Galaxy M02 in equal measure. Both phones are likely to sport 2GB of RAM and 32GB/64GB of built-in memory, and they could share the same color palette expected to include black, blue, and red.
