Samsung today unveiled the new Galaxy Chromebook 2. The company has been a major player in the Chromebook market since 2011. Its latest model is perhaps one of its best. It builds upon the premium experience offered by the first Galaxy Chromebook to offer a unique selling point.
The Galaxy Chromebook 2 is the world’s first Chromebook to feature a QLED display. We’ve seen this incredible display technology on many of Samsung’s products before. This is the first time that the company is bringing it to Chromebooks.

Powered by Google’s Chrome OS, the 2-in-1 Galaxy Chromebook 2 seamlessly integrates with both Galaxy and Google ecosystems. Google Assistant is built-in so users can accomplish a lot without even having to lift a finger. The new Chromebook works very well with Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem as well. It connects seamlessly with other Samsung devices to enable you to make calls and send messages from your phone, tablet or laptop.
The biggest selling point of the Galaxy Chromebook 2 is its 13.3-inch QLED 1920×1080 pixel resolution touchscreen display. Any Univeral Stylus Initiative (USI) pen can be used on this display for drawing or scribbling. Samsung has also added a new lattice keyboard that has wider keycaps and bright backlighting to improve the typing experience.
There’s a 10th Gen Intel Core i3-10110U or Intel Celeron 5205U processor under the hood with up to 8GB of RAM, the configuration will vary by market. The new Chromebook will be available in 64GB and 128GB storage options with microSD support.
Chromebooks have long been regarded as work devices. The QLED display makes the Galaxy Chromebook 2 more suitable for entertainment as well, making it a viable option for a wider base of customers. To further drive this point home, Samsung has added 5W x 2 stereo speakers to the device with Smart AMP. It runs up to 178% louder than the average amplifier to provide an immerse audio experience.
Connectivity options include ultra-fast Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth v5.0. A 45.5Wh battery promises to provide all-day battery life. The Galaxy Chromebook 2 measures just 13.9mm thick. It will be available in Fiesta Red and Mercury Gray finishes. Pricing and availability information has not yet been confirmed.
