The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite was secured with the March 2021 security patch a couple of months ago when the big One UI 3.1 firmware update made its debut, and Samsung is now improving the tablet’s security through a new update. The Galaxy Tab S6 Lite is now one of Samsung’s latest devices to enjoy the May 2021 security update, and its accompanied by one of Samsung’s 2018 smartphone models, namely the Galaxy Note 9.
Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and Galaxy Note 9 owners in Europe should receive an update notification at any moment, though as usual, availability will gradually expand to include an increasingly number of markets.
France appears to be among the first European countries to gain access to the new Galaxy Tab S6 Lite firmware, but there may be more. Galaxy Tab S6 Lite owners can identify the update by firmware number P61xXXU4CUE1. Meanwhile, the Galaxy Note 9 firmware update carries version N960FXXU8FUE1.
Both firmware versions hint at new features possibly being included with the new update, though we were unable to confirm. Worth noting is that the May security patch that was released for several other Galaxy devices — including the Galaxy Tab S7 and the Galaxy Note 10 — did bring Quick Share and Camera improvements. It is possible that the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite and / or the Galaxy Note 9 might be enjoying these enhancements as well.
Samsung smartphone / tablet owners can check if the new update is available for download from the Settings app, but they can also download the new update files from our firmware archive and install them manually on their Galaxy devices using a Windows PC.
