Samsung was the first Android OEM to release the August 2021 security update. The company started rolling it out in the last week of July, and the Galaxy A52 was the first smartphone to get it. Now, Samsung’s first 5G foldable smartphone has started getting the latest security patch.
The Galaxy Fold 5G (SM-F907B) is now getting the new update in the UK. The new software comes with firmware version F907BXXS5EUG1 and includes the August 2021 security patch. As per Samsung’s documentation, the new security patch fixes 40 vulnerabilities related to user privacy and data security. It includes 38 fixes from Google and 2 fixes from Samsung. This update lacks any new features or user-facing changes.
If you are a Galaxy Fold 5G user in the UK, you might have already received a notification of the new update. If you haven’t received it yet, you can check for it manually by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also flash the firmware manually after downloading the appropriate file from our firmware database.
Samsung had launched the Galaxy Fold 5G alongside the Galaxy Fold in September 2019 with Android 9 Pie. The device received two major Android OS updates: Android 10 and Android 11. The phone is on Samsung’s monthly security update schedule.
