Galaxy S22 Ultra camera specs confirmed in a new leak

The Galaxy S22 Ultra was earlier rumored to feature a 200MP camera sensor from Olympus. However, it turned out to be just that, a rumor. A few days ago, it was reported that Samsung will continue to use a 108MP primary camera sensor with some improvements in terms of zoom. Now, complete camera specifications of the upcoming phone have been revealed.

According to tipster Ice Universe (@UniverseIce), The Galaxy S22 Ultra will feature a slightly improved 108MP primary camera sensor (1/33-inch) with 0.8µm pixels and an F1.8 aperture. Apparently, it is a slightly modified version of the ISOCELL HM3, which is being used in the Galaxy S21 Ultra.

The upcoming flagship phone will reportedly use a 12MP ultrawide camera sensor from Sony (1/2.55-inch), featuring 1.4µm pixels and an F2.2 aperture. The Galaxy S22 Ultra will also use two 10MP (1/3.52-inch) Sony sensors, one with a 3x optical zoom lens and the other with a 10x optical zoom lens.

If this information is correct, there won’t be any major camera hardware improvement compared to the Galaxy S21 Ultra. And most of the improvements may come from software optimizations and processing algorithms. Despite being eight months old, the Galaxy S21 Ultra still holds its own in the camera department compared to newer flagship phones from rival brands. However, it will be difficult for Samsung to hold onto the lead, with rival firms opting for better hardware.
