Carrier-locked Galaxy S20 units start getting November 2021 security update in the US

Samsung released the November 2021 security update to the international units of the Galaxy S20 last week. A couple of days later, the update reached the unlocked units of the smartphones. Now, the carrier-locked units of the Galaxy S20 series are getting the latest security update.

The latest software update for the carrier-locked units of the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra comes with firmware version G98xUSQS2DUJ7 in the US. Almost all major carriers in the country have started releasing the update. The November 2021 security patch fixes dozens of privacy and security-related vulnerabilities found in Galaxy devices.

While we don’t have the changelog for the update yet, it might also contain device stability improvements and general bug fixes. If you are a Galaxy S20 series smartphone user in the US, you can check for the new update on your smartphone by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. You can also download the latest firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.

Samsung had launched the Galaxy S20 early last year with Android 10-based One UI 2 onboard. Last year, the smartphones received the Android 11-based One UI 3 update. The Galaxy S20 series will get two more Android OS updates in the future.
