Did the Galaxy S6 or S6 edge make you stop hating Samsung?

If it wasn’t for Samsung, Android probably wouldn’t have seen the same success as it has in the last few years. Sure, it would probably still have been the most dominant mobile operating system out there, but there’s no arguing with the fact that Samsung’s tremendous marketing efforts were also a factor that contributed to Android’s rise. Samsung made some great flagship smartphones, and while the non-flagship ones weren’t usually the best, Samsung’s pricing strategy and marketing efforts made sure that the Galaxy brand became a household name in the world of smartphones.

But while a majority of consumers have lapped up any mobile device Samsung has launched in recent years, there has been a very vocal part of the market that has made clear its aversion to anything made by the Korean giant. That’s with good reason – Samsung had been sitting on its laurels for far too long, not focusing on its phones’ designs nor on the quality and optimization of its software at a time when both aspects have been tackled well even by smaller players in the smartphone game.

Saying that some Android users out there simply hate Samsung wouldn’t be an overstatement, especially in the last year or so when it beginning to seem like the company’s employees were sitting in their offices with a smug look on their faces saying “we’re the leader in the Android space, and this is what you get. Deal with it!

But with the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, I’ve noticed that a lot of folks that would never even think of spending a dime on a Samsung smartphone have gone out and bought either of the two devices, and seem to be pretty happy with them, too.

Is this surprising? Not really. With both the S6 and S6 edge, Samsung is finally offering a truly premium flagship experience, one that doesn’t just depend on the latest specifications (nor the company’s marketing might) to woo the consumer. The design is the biggest selling point, and the fact that the world’s largest smartphone maker has, at long last, come around to making sure that its phone runs as fast in real-life as one would expect given the horsepower under the hood. Battery life is perhaps the only noticeable issue that has irked users, but other than that, the Galaxy S6 and S6 edge are as good as it can get for a top-of-the-line smartphone.

The Galaxy S6 lineup has seemingly lured in a lot of new consumers for Samsung, and from what I’ve seen and heard, these consumers also seem to be quite satisfied with the overall experience. There have been little to no signs of people finding anything to be a major issue with either phone, and while my personal observations don’t really account for much in the grand scheme of things, the Galaxy S6 and its stunning curved sibling seem to have made a big impression on those that went from hating Samsung to owning the company’s latest flagships.
