Verizon releases minor update for the Galaxy S5

Galaxy S5 owners on Verizon are going to receive a new software update today but it’s not what they’ve been waiting for, Android 5.1 is yet to be released for Samsung’s handsets. The largest carrier in the US has actually released a minor update for the Galaxy S5 which retains the core OS version but makes some tweaks to the software.

Verizon is rolling out software version LRX21T.G900VVRU1BOD5 for Galaxy S5 owners on its network, the update will auto install the Galaxy Apps app store on the device as well as enable the fingerprint scanner for unlocking Microsoft Exchange accounts. That’s really all there is to this update, the rebranded Samsung Apps which gives you yet another option to get apps for the device, and the security and convenience of unlocking the handset if the user has a Microsoft Exchange account as a device administrator. The update is being rolled out over-the-air and should go live shortly for all Galaxy S5 users on Verizon.
