Samsung Z1 now receiving Tizen 2.4 update in India

Following a five-month long beta testing program, Samsung has finally started rolling out the long-awaited Tizen 2.4 update (Z130HDDU0CPB1) to the Samsung Z1 in India. The upgrade weighs in at a fairly hefty 262MB and brings a truckload of new services to the open-source operating system, including WhatsApp Calling, Ultra Data Saving Mode and the facility to create private memos that require a password to view, edit and delete.

As you’d expect, Samsung has also made a ton of optimizations to its existing features on the firmware. The changelog shows that the default Message, Smart Manager, Camera, Music Player, Video Recorder and Settings applications have all been the subject of minor alterations. These changes are targeted at improving a user’s overall experience when navigating around the OS. The lock screen has been streamlined as well to make unlocking the handset smoother and faster than ever before.

If you own a Samsung Z1, are located in India and want to see if the update is ready for your device, first ensure your unit has at least 50% charge, then head into Settings, scroll to the bottom and tap on “About Device”, hit “Software Update” and select Update”. Alternatively, you can wait until you receive a notification prompting you to install the upgrade, but this will only happen if you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network.
