Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge pre-orders have surpassed Samsung’s expectations

An earlier report claimed that pre-orders for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge were lower than the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 edge, and Samsung has now officially weighed in on the matter. According to Koh Dong-jin, the president of the company’s mobile division, pre-orders for the new flagships have been stronger than expected. Samsung is also expecting the S7 and S7 edge to help it gain back some market share in China, where the abundance of affordable high-end smartphones has strongly affected Samsung’s smartphones sales in the last year or so.

Now, whether the stronger-than-expected pre-orders mean that demand has been higher than the S6 and S6 edge is something that hasn’t been made clear. It could be that the Korean giant had simply lowered expectations this year to see how things turn out after the dip in sales following the launch of last year’s Galaxy S flagships. The Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge certainly seem set for a strong market performance – both handsets have received glowing reviews and offer a complete smartphone package. The Galaxy S7 edge in particular is an impressive device, as we mentioned in our complete review.
