Samsung is developing an operating system for Internet of Things

Samsung has made no secret of the fact that it wants to be a major player in the Internet of Things market and its next move will reiterate its commitment to this market. The company is developing a new operating system of Internet of Things which it’s going to unveil at the Samsung Developer Conference in San Francisco next month.

“Samsung will announce our new, open-source IoT real-time operating system (RTOS), which has a wide scope of features while maintaining a lightweight and efficient footprint,” reads the session agenda. The new OS will be open source which will increase its adoption chances and will also enable many IoT devices to play nice with each other. The name of this new OS hasn’t been revealed yet so we might have to wait until next month to find out what Samsung is going to call it. There’s speculation that this new OS just might be a toned-down version of Tizen which Samsung already uses in devices like TVs and smartwatches.
