Following its rollout for the Galaxy Tab A 9.7 last month, Samsung has today started pushing out the long-awaited Marshmallow update to all Wi-Fi variants of the Galaxy Tab A 8.0 in Australia. The upgrade weighs in at approximately 1.1GB and transports the latest build of the Android operating system to the slate, in addition to a plethora of additional bug fixes, stability improvements and speed optimizations, which are all targeted at improving a user’s experience when carrying out tasks that require the multitasking function.
The full changelog for the upgrade can be seen below:
- Android 6.0 (Marshmallow)
- Exercise greater control over app permissions
- Purchase easily and securely with Fingerprint support
- Experience enhanced battery-life through Doze
- Redesigned App Drawer
If you own a Galaxy Tab A 8.0 and would like to see if the update is ready for your handset, simply head into the following menus: Settings > About Device > Software Update > Update Now. Alternatively, you could always wait until you receive a push notification prompting you to install the upgrade, but this has proven to take slightly longer than manually scanning for it — so we’d advise you to delve through the Settings screen in order to ensure that you have the facility to install firmware in a somewhat timely manner.
