Samsung slapped with a class-action lawsuit in Canada over the Galaxy Note 7

A law firm in Canada has filed a class-action lawsuit against Samsung for allegedly misleading the public and knowingly shipping faulty units of the Galaxy Note 7. Originating from Ontario, the complaint was filed by McKenzie Lake Lawyers LLP with the Ontario Superior Court, London (Canada) and is awaited a hearing.

The complainant is looking for a compensation in damages and a disclosure that the company’s actions during the early recall were wrong. They are alleging that the Korean manufacturer has violated the Consumer Protection Act and the Competition Act in the country.

This is not the first lawsuit against the Galaxy Note 7, and it certainly won’t be the last. In fact, Samsung has seemingly prepared for more lawsuits in the following months.

Earlier today, we saw Samsung taking out full-page ads as an apology for the Galaxy Note 7 and the recent washing machine controversy. Leading publications like The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal and The Washington Post were part of the company’s new ad campaign.
