Samsung may have released Android 7.0 Nougat for the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge back in January but carriers across the globe are still in the process of rolling out said update to their subscribers. Rogers, one of the largest mobile carriers in Canada, has now confirmed when it’s going to release the Nougat update for Samsung’s 2016 flagships.
Rogers has updated the firmware upgrade schedule on its website to confirm that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge will be updated to Android 7.0 Nougat on March 20. Rogers subscribers who own these handsets in Canada are currently on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow so it goes without saying that they will be excited about this new major firmware update.
Once Rogers releases the update on March 20, users will get an update notification on their device which will prompt them to download the over-the-air firmware upgrade and make the jump up to Nougat.
Samsung has now started rolling out Nougat for older devices like the Galaxy S6 and the Galaxy S6 edge but only in a handful of markets. It’s going to take a lot of time before the update makes it way to almost all markets across the globe.
