Patently Mobile has published a collection of Samsung Display’s latest design patents to be approved by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). While they don’t reveal any specific details about the products the firm is working on, they do give us a clear insight into the different designs it’s toying with. As usual, though, nothing is confirmed — so if you see something you like, don’t get your hopes up as there’s a pretty good chance it’ll never make its way onto the market.
In total, we’re catching a glimpse of five design patents: the first two showcase a smartphone and tablet with a stretchable display, the third appears to be a fold-out handset, the fourth looks like a ‘stretchable’ screen and the fifth… Well, we can’t even begin to fathom what it is. It looks like an hourglass-shaped panel, though we’re not entirely sure how that would fit into our day-to-day lives. Maybe it was submitted to throw us off our game? Who knows.
