AT&T releases October security update for the Galaxy Note 8

AT&T has released last month’s Security Maintenance Update, which addresses a number of vulnerabilities in Samsung’s modified build of the open-source Android operating system, for its carrier-branded variant of the Galaxy Note 8.

The main purpose of the upgrade, according to Samsung, is to implement a patch for the KRACK vulnerability, which—if not addressed—makes it possible for hackers to eavesdrop on your data when you’re connected to a Wi-Fi network.

It also transports a fix for the BlueBorne exploit, reports PhoneArena.

This news comes less than a month after Samsung released a near-identical update for the Galaxy Note 8 in China and Hong Kong; however, it’s still yet to arrive in a number of European countries, including France and the United Kingdom.

How do I install the update on my Galaxy Note 8?

To check to see if the release is ready for your Galaxy Note 8, open Settings, select Software Update, then tap Download Updates Manually. Alternatively, you can always wait until you receive a push notification prompting you to install the OTA.
