Samsung is preparing to release a compact variant of the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+, according to investment information provider Valuewalk. The handset—believed to be called the Galaxy S9 Mini—is expected to feature a 4-inch Infinity Display.
From what we can tell, however, Valuewalk’s prediction is based solely on a forecast made by esteemed Weibo tipster Ice Universe last week, who claimed that the firm was working on a sub-5-inch full-screen compact smartphone.
For that reason, we’d recommend taking this information with a hefty grain of salt. There were rumors suggesting that the firm would release a Mini version of both the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S8, but nothing ever materialized.
That’s not to say it isn’t possible, though.

It’s no secret that Samsung is hoping to rival Apple’s iPhone X with the Galaxy S9—and releasing a smaller variant that sports near-identical specifications would be a fantastic way to target customers who want flagship internals in a smaller package.
The Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ are rumored to sport a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch Infinity Display, respectively, an Exynos 9810/Snapdragon 845 processor and a pressure-sensitive Home button. They should also ship running a build of Android 8.0 Oreo.
What do you think?
For now, we’re going to reserve judgment—but we’d love to know what you think. Do you think we’re looking at the Galaxy S9 Mini? Or maybe even something else, like the Galaxy A3 (2018)? Be sure to drop a comment in the section below.
