Galaxy J4 Core is the first to secure August 2019 security patch

Samsung only recently published the details on the August 2019 security patch and the Galaxy J4 Core is seemingly the company’s first smartphone to receive it. A new software update featuring the latest security patch is rolling out for the Galaxy J4 Core bearing the model number SM-J410G; however, the changelog is currently missing so we’re unsure if any new features have been included with the update.

As per Samsung’s earlier announcement, the August 2019 security patch covers seven critical vulnerabilities, two moderate-risk vulnerabilities, and numerous high-risk vulnerabilities found within Android OS. The patch also covers 17 vulnerabilities affecting Samsung’s own proprietary software. You can read more about the issues here.

The Galaxy J4 Core is one of Samsung’s devices planned to receive quarterly security updates so it won’t receive a new security patch for another few good months. However, devices like the Galaxy S8, S9, Note 8, and Note 9 that follow the quarterly update schedule should soon start receiving their own updates carrying the August 2019 security patch.

If you own an eligible Galaxy J4 Core then you should be getting the update notification soon, if you haven’t already. Alternatively, you can trigger the update from the phone’s Settings app, or you can download the latest firmware for the SM-J410G from our firmware database and install it manually using your PC.
