You can count us among the many people who were waiting on Samsung to launch a new flagship tablet this year. The Galaxy Tab S6 is just that, a top-of-the-line tablet from our favorite Korean company. The question now is, why should you buy one?
The Galaxy Tab S6 has a lot going for it. It’s a noticeable step up from the Galaxy Tab S4 and unlike any other Android tablet on the market. Here are the six reasons why you should consider buying the Galaxy Tab S6.
Six reasons why the Galaxy Tab S6 should be your next tablet
Design and build quality
As we mentioned in our Galaxy Tab S6 hands-on, this new tablet feels like a genuinely premium product. The metal build makes it feel solid despite being amazingly thin and light. Upfront, the gorgeous 10.5-inch Super AMOLED display takes center stage with slim bezels accentuating its appeal. If you appreciate good design, you’re going to love not just how the Galaxy Tab S6 looks but how good it feels in your hands. Given that this is a device you will largely have two hands on most of the time, that’s a good attribute to have.
The best specs on an Android tablet this year
There’s no denying it. The Galaxy Tab S6 offers the best specs on an Android tablet in 2019. You get the Snapdragon 855, Qualcomm’s latest flagship chip that powers high-end devices like the Galaxy S10. There’s 6GB of RAM on the base model and 128GB of storage. Not just any storage, super-fast UFS 3.0 storage. With all of this humming away under the hood, the Galaxy Tab S6 will be able to handle whatever you throw at it, whether that’s multitasking for work or endless hours of PUBG. It will handle that without breaking a sweat, delivering blazing fast performance for any number of daunting tasks.
S Pen has moved up to the big leagues
Samsung made meaningful improvements to the S Pen with the Galaxy Note 9 last year. It’s great to see that those improvements have been carried over to the Galaxy Tab S6. The new Bluetooth-enabled S Pen lasts for up to ten hours after just ten minutes of charging. It offers remote control features so you can use it to capture images from a distance or to control presentations. The S Pen Air actions feature lets you control content on the tablet using gestures even what it’s not in your hands. You can also convert notes written using the S Pen into digital text, a feature we imagine is going to be quite helpful in our office.
A more powerful PC-like experience
Tablets have long been pitched as devices that can help you get work done on the move. The idea has always been to take a tablet where you don’t want to be carrying a notebook. If you’re someone who has to do that often, the Galaxy Tab S6 is the tablet for you.
The new Book Cover Keyboard accessory, sold separately, offers an improved and more accurate typing experience. Samsung has even included a touchpad so your hands never have to leave the keyboard. DeX has been updated to offer a better PC-like experience as well, and the dedicated DeX function key on the keyboard will launch it in a jiffy. No need to connect the tablet to an external monitor.
The first tablet with a dual rear camera
People don’t generally use their tablets to take photos, but you might not summarily dismiss the camera on the Galaxy Tab S6. This is Samsung’s first tablet with a dual camera at the back. There’s a 13-megapixel primary sensor in addition to a 5-megapixel ultra-wide camera with a 123-degree field of view. The Galaxy Tab S6 is capable of taking pictures unlike any other tablet on the market.
Finally, a more intuitive way to secure your tablet
The Galaxy Tab S6 also happens to be Samsung’s first tablet with an in-display fingerprint sensor. We have tested it and found that it works as advertised. It’s certainly a more intuitive way to secure your tablet. Not to mention that it’s one piece of kit that sets the Galaxy Tab S6 apart from the competition. This is something that Samsung fans had been wishing to see on its new flagship tablet. We’re happy that Samsung has met their expectations.
Now the hard part…
You’re going to have to wait if you’ve made up your mind to purchase the Galaxy Tab S6. Samsung has said that it won’t be released until late August. It hasn’t provided a precise release date, but the word late is pretty self-explanatory.
When it does arrive, it will be available in three gorgeous colors: Mountain Gray, Cloud Blue and Rose Blush. Prices start at $650 in the United States and 699 euro in the EU. Evidently, the Galaxy Tab S6 offers quite a lot in exchange for your money.
