The list of Galaxy devices that have been updated with the December 2019 security patch has become a bit longer today, with Samsung now releasing the latest security update for the Galaxy Fold and the Galaxy S9 in various markets. The Galaxy Fold update is rolling out in France at this time, while the Galaxy S9 and S9+ are getting the December update in as many as 15 European countries.
For Galaxy Fold owners in France, the December update comes just a week and a day after the previous software update, which introduced DeX for PC support to the foldable device. Meanwhile, 5G variants of the Galaxy Fold have not even been updated with the DeX update, once again showing how support for the Galaxy Fold 5G has been rather lackluster. Samsung will probably end up combining the two updates for the 5G variant, although it remains to be seen when the resulting update will actually arrive.
The Galaxy Fold and Galaxy S9 December updates come with software version F900FXXS2ASKC and G96*FXXS7CSK4 respectively. No new features are included in these updates, only the latest security fixes that Samsung detailed earlier this week. To download the update over the air, open the Settings app on your device, tap Software update, then select Download and install. Alternatively, download the latest firmware from our firmware archive and install it on your Fold/S9/S9+ using a computer.
