It’s been months since the unannounced SM-T307 / Galaxy Tab A4 S was spotted in the wild. Now, it’s back in the headlines after a recent entry in the online benchmark Geekbench. The tablet was tested on March 18 running Android 9, confirming our early report and the fact that the Galaxy Tab A 8.4 (2020) isn’t the only upcoming mid-range tablet set to ship with an older Android OS version out of the box. They certainly don’t seem to be getting the same level of attention as the upcoming Galaxy Tab S7/Tab S20 flagship, but that’s only natural given their lower price points.
According to the benchmark entry, the Galaxy Tab A4 S is equipped with the Exynos 7885 octa-core chipset. It’s the same silicon that was employed by several Galaxy smartphones before, including the Galaxy A7 and A8 (2018), but never by a Galaxy tablet. The Exynos 7885 SoC is paired with 3GB of RAM.
This concludes the list of details revealed by the benchmark, however, a few months ago our sources told us that the Galaxy Tab A4 S will be available with 32GB of built-in storage. We were also told that the tablet will be released in only one color option, namely brown.
The Galaxy Tab A4 S was certified by Bluetooth, the FCC, and the Wi-Fi Alliance late last year, and we’re guessing that it shouldn’t take much longer before it will be officially introduced.
