In the middle of the COVID-19 virus outbreak all over the world, Samsung’s Vice Chairman Lee Jae-Yong visited one of the company’s display manufacturing plants in Korea. He visited the Asan plant in South Chungcheong Province in South Korea to encourage the company’s employees to overcome the current health crisis.
Lee Jae-Yong, who is the heir apparent of the Samsung Group, also checked the company’s future business plans. This is the second time he has visited factories and manufacturing facilities in Korea. Earlier this month, he also visited the company’s smartphone plant in Gumi in North Gyeongsang Province. This is the same plant where some of the employees had contracted the COVID-19 virus.
Lee said, “Because of this unexpected variable, I know everyone feels pressure, but we should not stop. We need wisdom that can look beyond the crisis.” The company closed its plants for a few days due to the pandemic, and it recently announced that it is shutting down all of its retail stores in the US until further notice. The company has donated $24.6 million in South Korea to help contain the virus.
Samsung Display had announced that it would invest around $11 billion by 2025 to upgrade all of its LCD panel manufacturing units to Quantum Dot panels.
