Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, personal hygiene has become more important than ever. Given that we interact with our smartphones and earphones all day long, it is equally important to keep them germ-free, but we are not advised to use regular sanitizers to clean those devices. As a solution to the problem, Samsung had unveiled a UV-based sterilizer for smartphones in Thailand last week. Now, the company has announced that the sterilizer is coming to more markets.
Samsung’s new UV Sterilizer with Wireless Charging will be available in more countries worldwide, and it will be available for purchase through offline and online stores. Manufactured by Samsung C&T, the sterilizer can kill 99% of bacteria and germs using dual UV lamps, at least as per the company’s claims. It can disinfect earphones, glasses, smartphones, smartwatches, and other smaller objects in just 10 minutes.
Samsung’s UV sterilizer also features built-in wireless charging
The UV Sterilizer can kill bacteria and germs like E. coli, Staphylococcus Aureus, and Candida Albicans, and this has been tested by two independent certification and testing institutes (Intertek and SGS). It can disinfect both the top and bottom surfaces of any device that can be placed inside. It is sleek and lightweight, making it easier to carry anywhere. The device automatically turns off after ten minutes after you start using it.
Samsung has also built the wireless charging feature into its UV Sterilizer, which means that you can charge your Qi-enabled smartphone or earphones will it’s getting cleaned. The device’s maximum wireless charging output is rated at 10 watts. It is priced at TBH 1,560 (around $50) in Thailand, but the company hasn’t unveiled its pricing for international markets just yet. We expect the pricing information to be released over the next few weeks.
