The Galaxy S20 series started receiving the July 2020 security patch in South Korea three weeks ago. The update was then rolled out to the unlocked variants in the US last week. Now, it’s time for the Galaxy S20, Galaxy S20+, and the Galaxy S20 Ultra on Verizon’s network to receive the update.
The latest software update for the Galaxy S20 5G UW comes with the firmware version G981VSQU1ATFG, while the firmware versions for the Galaxy S20+ and the Galaxy S20 Ultra software updates are G986USQU1ATFG and G988USQU1ATFG, respectively. With the new software updates, the Galaxy S20 series phones on Verizon’s network are receiving the July 2020 security patch.
While the smartphones received various camera improvements along with the July 2020 security patch in South Korea, the US variants are not receiving those improvements with the new software update. Users are reporting that the camera version before and after the update has remained the same on their phones. Verizon’s website just mentions “performance improvements” in the official changelog.
If you’re a Galaxy S20 5G UW, Galaxy S20+, or a Galaxy S20 Ultra user on Verizon’s network, you might have received the update already. If you haven’t, you can trigger the software update manually by navigating to your phone’s Settings » Software update menu and tapping Download and install.
