Samsung is now rolling out the fourth firmware update for the Galaxy S20 FE 5G that presumably improves touchscreen stability. The package carries firmware version G81BXXU1BUA5 and weighs around 263MB with the January 2021 security patch included.
And yes, according to Samsung’s official change log history, this is the fourth update to include touchscreen stability improvements, though at this point we’re unsure if this is just information that was copy-pasted from a previous changelog by mistake, or if the new firmware really is meant to improve the touchscreen.
The Galaxy S20 FE is one of the best smartphones that were released by Samsung last year but a number of users have been unlucky enough to receive units whose touchscreens behave erratically in certain situations. This problem doesn’t seem to be affecting too many users — and even our review unit remains unaffected — but it is something that Samsung appears to have acknowledged as a problem for a few months now.
The G81BXXU1BUA5 firmware update is presently rolling out for the Galaxy S20 FE 5G in dozens of countries across Europe. You can download the update by opening Settings on your phone and selecting the Download and install option inside the Software update menu. As always, you can also download the firmware from our archives and install it on your phone manually.
