Samsung has been beating every other Android smartphone OEM in releasing new security updates. Even before June had started, the company started releasing the June 2021 security patch to its smartphones. The Galaxy Z Flip 5G was the first Android smartphone in the world to get the June 2021 security patch, and now it’s Galaxy Z Flip’s turn to get the update.
The Galaxy Z Flip (SM-F700F) is now getting a new software update with the June 2021 security patch in some African and Asian markets. The new software update, which bears firmware version F700FXXS5DUE1, is now available in Bangladesh, Israel, Kenya, Morocco, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan. Samsung is yet to reveal how many security and privacy issues it has fixed with the update. We expect detailed documentation from the company regarding the matter over the next few days.
If you are a Galaxy Z Flip user in any of the countries mentioned above, you can check for the OTA update by navigating to Settings » Software update and tapping on Download and install. If you don’t want to wait for the OTA update and consider yourself an advanced user, you can download the new firmware file from our firmware database and flash it manually.
Samsung had launched the Galaxy Z Flip early last year with Android 10-based One UI 2.0. It received the Android 11-based One UI 3.0 update in December 2020. Three months ago, the foldable smartphone received the Android 11-based One UI 3.1 update. The smartphone is currently on a monthly security update schedule.
