Samsung Pay has been said to arrive this year on the company’s latest devices, and it’s highly likely we’ll see the mobile payment system announced with the upcoming Galaxy Note 5/Galaxy S6 edge+ announcement. While we’re waiting for Samsung’s most prestigious announcement of the year, however, the Korean manufacturer has decided to roll out a payment feature for the company’s own Smart TV lineup.
Dubbed “Samsung Pay on TV,” the new feature allows Smart TV customers to pay for their purchases by way of a debit or credit card or PayPal account using a four-digit PIN. If your credit card or debit card information is already connected with your Samsung account, a simple log-in will take care of the need to enter your information; if not, you’ll be allowed to enter it by way of Samsung’s new virtual Secure Keyboard.
At this point, there are only a few games available for purchase via the new TV payment method, such as Eternal Warrior 3, Frontline Commando: DDAY, and Casino Golf Championship, and Samsung Pay on TV is only available for certain 2014 and 2015 Smart TVs in 32 countries. With next week’s mobile payment announcement, however, and the convenience of using the company’s Galaxy smartphones as TV remotes, Samsung Pay on TV looks to get even smarter in the coming days.
